As summer temperatures continue to soar across much of the United States, the risk of heat exhaustion is becoming more serious—especially for children, older adults, outdoor workers, and athletes returning to fall sports. That’s why I was honored to contribute to a recent HuffPost article focused on how to stay safe during extreme heat.

The article, “Experts Share What Products To Have On Hand To Prevent Heat Exhaustion,” brings together guidance from physicians, physical therapists, and emergency preparedness experts. It covers everything from recognizing early symptoms to having the right supplies on hand to cool down quickly and avoid a medical emergency.

One important takeaway I shared:

“Heat exhaustion doesn’t always feel like you’re ‘hot.’ In fact, you may feel chilly or suddenly exhausted — which is why it’s so important to know the full range of symptoms.”

When the body’s ability to cool itself is overwhelmed, heat exhaustion can set in quickly—and escalate to heat stroke if untreated. Knowing the subtle signs and being prepared with the right tools can make a big difference. Learn how to recognize and treat heat exhaustion and heat stroke with important information from the Cleveland Clinic.

This is a great reminder that preparedness isn’t just for storms—it applies to heatwaves, too.
