I just got back from the 2026 National Tropical Weather Conference in South Padre Island, and as always, it was one of those experiences that’s rewarding both professionally and personally.
This conference brings together meteorologists, emergency managers, broadcasters, and preparedness professionals from across the country—and it’s a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. It’s not just about forecasts. It’s about people, communication, and helping communities stay safe.

One of my favorite parts was having the opportunity to interview Colorado State University's Dr. Phil Klotzbach for WVEC-TV 13News Now. We talked about his 2026 Atlantic hurricane season forecast and what it could mean in the months ahead.
Hurricane season in the Atlantic Basin officially begins on June 1st. Learn what to expect this season... you might be surprised. Watch my full interview here.
But as I always say—it’s not just about how many storms are predicted. It’s about what you do with that information.
Conversations like this are exactly why I’m so passionate about what I do—taking complex science and turning it into clear, useful, real-life guidance.
Another moment that meant a great deal to me was being presented with the “Spirit of Community” Award for my work through Prepare with Cher and my involvement as a FEMA-Certified instructor with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC).

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know this is the heart of everything I do.
As we head into hurricane season, this is your reminder to start preparing now—not later. Small steps today can make a big difference when it matters most.
And if you’re a brand, organization, or media outlet looking to better connect preparedness messaging with your audience, I’d love to work together.
