“Live Like You Were Dying.” Tim McGraw’s iconic song resonates with me, because at this time last year, I did almost die. While in my hospital bed, I made a promise to myself that if I survived my illness, I was going to see the world. ✈️ 🌏 Not after years of trying to save money. Not ten years from now. Not when I’m retired. *Now.* Because after I almost didn’t see ‘tomorrow,’ I realized that *none of us* are promised tomorrow. ⏳ I look at life through a whole new lens: a lens revealing profound gratitude. ✨
If you are able, don’t wait to do the things you want to do. Use your vacation days. Travel. Spend time with the people who mean the most to you. Tell people you love them. ❤️ Don’t live with regrets. Do whatever it is now… while you still can. THIS is exactly how I now live my life.
As I was healing from my illness in the hospital last year, I started planning an ‘around the world trip’ for early 2023. It was a lofty goal, but I was determined to get my strength back and do what I love again. 🙏🏻
Guess what? I did it. Over the past three weeks, I traversed the globe with my supportive husband by my side. I started my trip by ‘trading’ a hospital bed for the Delta One Suite lay-flat bed seen here. Trust me, after flying for nearly 15 hours, this seat was worth every Delta Skymile I used to book it. 😉
Follow my #IllnessRedemptionTrip journey as I share a series of posts and photos documenting what I learned while traveling around the world. 🌍
Stop #1: Tokyo, Japan…
