I was honored to share expert advice in a recent Martha Stewart article on how to stay safe during thunderstorms. From the importance of early warnings to what not to do when lightning strikes, the article covers key precautions to protect your family, pets, and home.

Some highlights:

  • Use a NOAA Weather Radio or trusted app for alerts.

  • Head to a basement or windowless interior room on the lowest floor of your building during a warning — and wear a helmet for extra protection.

  • Avoid showers, plumbing, landlines, and even concrete floors and walls during storms, as lightning can travel through these systems.

  • Steer clear of windows and glass doors, which can shatter in strong winds or hail.

Don't wait until the skies darken — read the full article here for all the essential tips!
